FotoGrids vs Photo Gallery by 10Web

10Web’s Photo Gallery is a capable free plugin — watermarking, image filters and seven layouts are all in it. The questions worth asking are what the paid tiers add, and whether you can take your galleries with you afterwards.

Workflow & maintenance

Paying doesn't get your galleries back

Export and import is how you move galleries between sites, hand a build to a client, or leave.

10Web — Bundle plans only, from $85

Their help centre states it twice: the Export/Import extension is “available only in Plugin Bundle”, and “Extensions are included in Bundle Plans only.” Basic at $30 and Pro at $60 do not include it.

FotoGrids — In the free plugin

Import and export are in Free, and migration from other gallery plugins with them. Pro Plus adds scheduled backups and restore.

Plans and tiers

Basic and Pro are the same product

10Web sells Free, Basic at $30, Pro at $60 and bundles from $85.

10Web — The difference is site count

Basic and Pro carry the same feature list; Basic covers one site and Pro covers five. Licences include six months of updates, and no renewal price is published on the pricing page.

FotoGrids — Each tier adds capability

Pro Starter, Pro Plus and Pro Agency each add features as well as sites, at $39, $79 and $129 — and those are the renewal prices too.

Image protection

No password on a client gallery

A password is the simplest way to put a shoot in front of one client and nobody else.

10Web — Not offered in the gallery

The word password does not appear anywhere in the plugin outside its bundled libraries, and no help-centre article covers it. Their image protection is right-click blocking and watermarks.

FotoGrids — In the free plugin

Password-protected galleries, textual watermarking and view permissions, all in Free. Pro Starter adds right-click protection and fully customisable watermarks.

In fairness

The free plugin is genuinely capable

Several things we say other gallery plugins charge for are free here, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

10Web — Watermarking and filters are free

Watermarking is in the free build, and doubled — destructive and overlay. Image filters, Open Graph tags on share pages and seven gallery layouts are all free too. Their free tier is not a teaser.

FotoGrids — Where the difference sits

Not in the basics, but in what happens next: passwords on client work, 30+ templates to start from, a dashboard that reports back, and galleries you can export without changing plan.

What 10Web keeps for higher plans

10Web publishes no renewal price. Plugin licences include six months of updates, after which the plugin keeps working but stops receiving them.

Migration

Move from Photo Gallery by 10Web in an afternoon

Step 1
Bring the galleries across
FotoGrids imports from other gallery plugins, so the galleries you have already built don’t need rebuilding.
Step 2
Keep the URLs
Galleries get their own addresses, and the permalink settings let you match the URLs you already have on 10Web.
Step 3
Try it alongside
Free is a full plugin, not a trial. Build one gallery in FotoGrids beside your 10Web one and compare on your own site.
Step 4
Make it yours
Set the layout, watermark and password the way you like, then save them as defaults for the next gallery.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The free plugin ships eight layouts, 30+ templates, albums, password-protected galleries, watermarking, an analytics dashboard, and import and export — several of which 10Web reserves for a bundle plan or doesn’t offer.
Only on a bundle plan. 10Web’s help centre states that the Export/Import extension is available only in Plugin Bundle, and that extensions are included in bundle plans only — so Basic at $30 and Pro at $60 do not include it. FotoGrids has import and export in the free plugin.
Eight layouts, 30+ templates, albums and collections, twelve hover effects, textual watermarking, password-protected galleries, EXIF viewing and the analytics dashboard. The full breakdown is on the Free vs Pro page.
The same as this year. Pro Starter, Pro Plus and Pro Agency are $39, $79 and $129, and those are the renewal prices as well as the joining ones. The tiers are set out on the pricing page.
We read each plugin’s actual source rather than its marketing pages, then run a second pass whose job is to disprove every claim. The method is in the methodology section, and every line in the table has a source behind it.
