FotoGrids is a WordPress gallery plugin built around the WordPress Media Library. It lets you create photo Galleries and Albums directly from your existing media, display them anywhere on your site using a shortcode or block, and manage them through a dedicated editor in wp-admin — all without leaving WordPress or exporting your images to a third-party service.
FotoGrids ships as two coordinated plugins: FotoGrids (Free) and FotoGrids Pro. The free plugin is the full foundation — Galleries, Albums, a Lightbox, layouts, captions, metadata, statistics, and the entire admin UI are all included at no cost. Pro extends the free plugin with additional layouts, advanced metadata features, e-commerce integrations, and more. Pro requires FotoGrids (Free) to be active.
What you can do with FotoGrids #
With the free plugin you can create as many Galleries as you need, add images from your Media Library, arrange them by dragging and dropping, and display them on any page or post. Each Gallery has its own settings — layout, Lightbox behaviour, captions, image filters, hover effects, custom CSS and JavaScript — or you can set global defaults that apply to every new Gallery automatically.
Albums let you group Galleries together. Visitors can browse an Album, open any Gallery inside it, and navigate back — without a page reload.
The built-in Lightbox opens full-size images in an overlay with navigation arrows, keyboard support, swipe on mobile, a thumbnail strip, zoom, an info panel, and slideshow auto-progress. Every aspect of the Lightbox is configurable per Gallery.
FotoGrids also records view counts for Galleries, Albums, and individual items. The statistics are visible from the FotoGrids dashboard in wp-admin.
Free vs. Pro #
FotoGrids Free is a complete, production-ready plugin. Pro adds features for more demanding workflows:
