The Statistics page is where you read what FotoGrids has recorded — overall totals, views over time, your most popular Galleries, and a ranked list of top content. This article walks through each part of the page, the time-period filter, and the per-collection settings that control whether tracking runs and how long the data is kept.

Reading the Statistics Page #
Open FotoGrids → Statistics. The page is read-only and gathers everything in one view: a row of summary cards, two charts, and two tables. A toolbar at the top sets the time period and refreshes the data.
If no views have been recorded yet, the page shows an empty state instead — your statistics appear here once visitors start opening your Galleries.

The period buttons in the toolbar set the window for the charts and tables. Switching period reloads the Views Over Time chart, the Most Popular Galleries chart, Recent Activity, and Top Performing Content for the selected range. The summary cards show all-time totals and do not change with the period.
The Refresh button next to the period buttons reloads the current view with the latest recorded data.
Summary cards
A row of cards across the top shows site-wide totals: Total Galleries, Total Albums, Total Items, Total Views, and Total Interactions. These are running totals across everything FotoGrids tracks, independent of the selected time period.
Views Over Time
A line chart plotting recorded views across the selected period, so you can see whether interest in your galleries is rising, steady, or tailing off over the window.
Most Popular Galleries
A doughnut chart breaking down views by Gallery for the selected period, showing at a glance which Galleries draw the most attention. If no Gallery was viewed in the period, the chart shows an empty message instead.
Recent Activity
A table of the items, Galleries, and Albums viewed most recently in the period. Each row shows the name, its type, its view count, and when it was last viewed. The name links to that item’s editor.
Top Performing Content
A table ranking your most-viewed content for the period, showing name, type, views, and shares together. This is the quickest way to find which content is both seen and shared the most. The Top Performing Content article covers this ranking in more detail.
Where Else Statistics Appear #
The Statistics page is the main view, but two other places surface the numbers:
- Gallery and Album lists — the list tables at FotoGrids → Galleries and FotoGrids → Albums include a Views column showing each Gallery or Album’s total.
- Dashboard widget — a FotoGrids widget on the main WordPress dashboard summarises the most-viewed Galleries from the last 30 days, so the headline numbers are visible without opening the plugin.
Controlling Tracking Per Collection #
Statistics tracking is controlled per Gallery and per Album from the collection’s settings, under the Advanced tab in the Data Management group. This is also where you choose how long the recorded data is kept.

Records views and interactions for this Gallery so they appear in the Statistics page and the other views above. Switch it off for a Gallery you do not want counted — a staging set, a test, or a private collection you would rather not measure.
Retain Statistics

Sets how long statistics data is kept before it is cleaned up. Choose Forever to keep data indefinitely, or pick a window to have older data removed automatically. A scheduled cleanup runs in the background and removes statistics that have fallen outside the chosen window.
Cleanup is based on when content was last viewed, not when it was created. Content that is still being viewed regularly is kept; only content that has been inactive for the full retention window is removed.
When data falls outside the retention window it is removed permanently, including its lifetime totals. Choose Forever if you want a complete historical record.
When Numbers Look Wrong #
A brand-new Gallery reads zero until its first views accumulate, and previews inside the editor are not counted — only loads on a public page record a view. If a Gallery you can see is being viewed shows no statistics, check that Enable Statistics Tracking is on for it, and that the page is a live public page rather than an editor preview.
