The Slider presents items as a horizontal, swipe-able strip with optional arrows, bullets, a counter, autoplay, and a thumbnail rail. It is the most configurable layout for showing images in sequence, and fits anywhere a full grid would take too much room, such as a hero row or a featured strip.

How it works #
The Slider shows a row of items that visitors move through by swiping, dragging, clicking arrows, tapping bullets, or using the thumbnail rail. You decide how many items are visible at once, how tall the strip is, and which navigation controls appear. Items keep their aspect ratio and the strip handles touch gestures natively, so it feels at home on phones.
The Slider is available for Galleries only, not Albums.
Slider settings live in two places. The layout-level controls — items per view, item shape, and height — are on the **Layout** tab. All the navigation controls — autoplay, arrows, bullets, and thumbnails — are on the **Navigation** tab, which appears whenever the Slider or Image Viewer layout is selected.
When to use it #
Reach for the Slider when sequence and space both matter: a homepage hero that cycles through highlights, a row of featured products, a before-and-after strip, a testimonial-style sequence. With more than one item per view it becomes a card carousel; with one item per view it becomes a full-width sliding showcase.
Layout settings #
Items Per View
How many items are visible at once, set per device.
| Setting | Items Per View |
| Default | Desktop 3 Tablet 3 Mobile 1 |
One item per view gives a full-width showcase; two or more turns the Slider into a carousel of cards.
Item Aspect Ratio and Item Fit
The Slider offers the same shape controls as the Grid, including the None option to keep original proportions.
| Setting | Item Aspect Ratio |
| Options | None 1:1 4:3 3:2 16:9 3:4 2:3 Custom |
| Default | 4:3 |
| Setting | Item Fit |
| Options | Cover Contain |
| Default | Cover |
| Visible when | Item Aspect Ratio is set to any ratio other than None |
Height
Controls how the Slider sizes its height.
| Setting | Height Mode |
| Options | Auto Fixed |
| Default | Auto |
Auto sizes the strip to the items; Fixed pins it to a height you set per device.
| Setting | Fixed Height |
| Units | px |
| Default | Desktop 500 Tablet 400 Mobile 300 |
| Visible when | Height Mode is set to Fixed |
| Setting | Maximum Height |
| Units | px |

| Visible when | Height Mode is set to Auto |
Item Spacing
The gap between items in the strip.
| Setting | Item Spacing |
| Units | px |
| Default | Desktop 10 Tablet 8 Mobile 5 |
Navigation settings #
The Navigation tab is organised into General, Arrows, Bullets, and Thumbnails.
General
Loop
| Setting | Loop |
| Default | On |
When on, the Slider wraps from the last item back to the first. Turn it off when the sequence has a defined start and end.
Show Counter
| Setting | Show Counter |
| Default | Off |
Shows the current position, such as 3 of 12.
Autoplay
| Setting | Enable Autoplay |
| Default | Off |
| Setting | Delay |
| Range | 1000–10000 |
| Units | ms |
| Default | 4000 |
| Visible when | Enable Autoplay is on |
| Setting | Pause on Hover |
| Default | On |
| Visible when | Enable Autoplay is on |
Transition
| Setting | Transition Between Items |
| Options | Horizontal None |
| Default | Horizontal |
The Slider scrolls a strip, so it uses the Horizontal slide or None. The Fade and Vertical transitions are offered for the Image Viewer layout, which swaps one image at a time.
| Setting | Transition Duration |
| Options | Fast Normal Slow Custom |
| Default | Normal |
| Visible when | Transition Between Items is not None |
| Setting | Custom Duration |
| Range | 50–2000 |
| Units | ms |
| Default | 300 |
| Visible when | Transition Duration is set to Custom |
Arrows
Show Arrows
| Setting | Show Arrows |
| Default | On |
The settings below appear when Show Arrows is on.
Arrow Icon Style
A choice of eight arrow glyphs (chevrons, plain arrows, and circled or boxed variants).
| Setting | Arrow Icon Style |
| Default | Chevron |
| Visible when | Show Arrows is on |
Arrow Size
| Setting | Arrow Size |
| Range | 16–120 |
| Units | px em rem % |
| Default | 40 |
| Visible when | Show Arrows is on |
Arrows Location
Where the arrows sit relative to the strip.
| Setting | Arrows Location |
| Options | Inset Overlap Outset |
| Default | Inset |
| Visible when | Show Arrows is on |
Inset places the arrows over the strip’s edges, Overlap straddles the edge, and Outset sits them fully outside the strip.
Arrow Distance
| Setting | Arrow Distance |
| Range | 0–80 |
| Units | px |
| Default | 8 |
| Visible when | Show Arrows is on |
Reserve Space for Arrows
| Setting | Reserve Space for Arrows |
| Default | Off |
| Visible when | Show Arrows is on |
When on, the layout keeps clear space for outset arrows so they do not crowd surrounding content.
Arrows Visibility
| Setting | Arrows Visibility |
| Options | Always Visible Show on Hover Hide on Hover |
| Default | Always Visible |
| Visible when | Show Arrows is on |
Hide Arrows at First and Last Item
| Setting | Hide Arrows at First and Last Item |
| Default | Off |
| Visible when | Show Arrows is on |
Hides the previous arrow on the first item and the next arrow on the last item. Most useful with Loop off, where the ends are real boundaries.
Bullets
Show Bullets
| Setting | Show Bullets |
| Default | On |
The settings below appear when Show Bullets is on: Bullet Style, Bullet Size (4–24px, default 10), Space Between Bullets (default 8), Bullets Location (Top, Bottom, Overlay Top, Overlay Bottom; default Bottom), Bullets Distance (default 8), and Bullets Visibility (Always Visible, Show on Hover, Hide on Hover; default Always Visible).
Thumbnails
Show Thumbnails
| Setting | Show Thumbnails |
| Default | Off |
Adds a rail of thumbnails alongside the strip. When on, you can set the rail’s Location (Bottom, Top, Left, Right; default Bottom), Thumbnail Size (Small, Normal, Large; default Normal), Space Between Thumbnails (0–20, default 5), and whether the rail responds to mouse drag and touch swipe (both on by default).
How this layout affects other settings #
The Slider is its own navigation, so it changes a couple of related settings:
- Pagination — the Slider already pages through items by sliding, so the Pagination settings do not apply and are hidden.
- Navigation tab — appears only for the Slider and Image Viewer layouts, since the other layouts have no carousel chrome.
Filtering still works with the Slider, so a filter bar can sit above the strip. Sorting, the Lightbox, Captions, item styling, and Hover Effects all apply as normal.
Tips and recommendations #
Set Items Per View above 1 to build a card carousel, where several items show at once and the strip scrolls a few at a time. For a full-bleed hero, keep it at 1 per view and consider a Fixed height so the hero stays a steady size regardless of which image is showing.
Autoplay works best paired with Pause on Hover left on, so the Slider keeps moving for passive visitors but holds still the moment someone reaches in to look. Turn Loop off when the order means something — a step-by-step sequence or a story with a real ending — and pair it with Hide Arrows at First and Last Item so the boundaries read clearly.
The thumbnail rail is worth turning on for galleries visitors will browse deliberately rather than glance at, since it lets them jump straight to an image instead of stepping through one at a time.
